Encompassing the island of Borneo and a chunk of the Malay Peninsula, Malaysia is an Asian country, well-known for its beautiful beaches and mindblowing natural reserves. The capital of the country is Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia has a large Indian and Chinese population and was colonised by the British up until 1957. The official language of the country is English, it is amongst the top 50 most populated countries in the world, and has greatly been influenced by European culture as well.

BUT let's get back to those beautiful beaches and jaw-dropping reserves shall we?

Malaysia is one of the 17 countries of megadiversity, a denomination for countries with the most number of plant and animal species, and words cannot describe the colourful and attractive culture of the natives. A melting pot for some 24 different ethnicities, Malaysia’s culture is just as diverse and endowed as its landscape and wildlife.

Danum Valley, Sabah

A full 486 square kilometres of uninhabited, uninhibited, and unadulterated nature, Danum Valley is located in the heart of the larger Ulu Segama reserve. An undisturbed 130-million years of forest, blessed with an incredible amount of flora and fauna, Danum Valley in for those who love and desire to be totally immersed in the beauty of nature, a true verdant heaven. The forest is a lowland dipterocarp forest, with spectacular and exclusive species such as the Bornean Orangutan, Bornean gibbons, the mousedeer, the clouded leopard, the East Sumatran Rhinoceros, and much more. The Danum Valley is the only place where you can find the spectacled flowerpecker.

The Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur

If you love the daring and heights, then the Petronas Towers should do it for you. Standing as the world’s tallest twin towers, the building held the record for tallest in the world, till 2004, but it lost nothing in its splendour and beauty when it lost the title of the world’s tallest building. Designed by Argentine Cesar Pelli, the building has 88 floors, and an Islamic-styled designed in honour of Malaysia’s Muslim religion. Tower One is completely occupied by Petronas, while tower two is occupied by renowned companies such as HUAWEI, Microsoft, AVEVA, Boeing, IBM, and much more. Shopping malls and the exquisite Suria KLCC shopping mall, and KLCC park can also be found in and below the towers.

The sky bridge that connects the two towers, is another treat not to miss and is not for the fainthearted.
